For a long time now, my colleague Rohin Dharmakumar has been doing the heavy lifting for the business side of The Ken. It has been, what, more than 18 months now. I do not envy his job. Building the company from scratch, putting in processes (and it started very much with the website), Rohin has taken the company quite some distance. For some time now, we’ve felt the need for someone to come in and build the business alongside him. Someone with the right measure of talent and ownership. In that context, I’m glad that Praveen Gopal Krishnan is joining The Ken as head of product.

Praveen has seven years of experience in product management focusing on front-end products on the web and mobile. In his last assignment, he was the Director of Product at InMobi, where he conceptualised and launched the Marketing Partners platform and their analytics suite. A long, long time ago, in a simpler era, Praveen used to be a journalist. He has written for The Economic Times in Chennai, where he did features, covered local events and conducted interviews. If you have followed us for long, Praveen also wrote for The Ken; the wildly, popular series, The Illustrated Guide to Food Tech part I and II. When he’s not plotting to make the district of Palakkad into an independent republic, he’s usually obsessing about ancient military war tactics and the perfect colour scheme for his curtains at home. Praveen holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and an engineering degree in Electronics and Communications from NIT, Trichy.

Like with the rest of us, you can reach Praveen with wishes, questions at first name at the rate the-ken dot com.
