Like most successful premium products, The Ken, too, is a perpetual work-in-progress. Because we can’t afford to take our subscribers, their knowledge, their curiosity or their time for granted. Which means constant upgrades to our products, processes and people to make our stories richer, deeper and more relevant.
Our latest upgrades are both Staff Writers – Suraksha. P in Bangalore and Rozelle Laha in Mumbai.
In Bangalore, Suraksha joins us from The New Indian Express newspaper, where she was a senior reporter covering the healthcare beat. In the nearly five years she’s spent as a journalist across three cities, she’s done investigative stories on subjects like Delhi’s pollution, ghost medical students in Karnataka, dengue outbreaks and Aadhaar biometrics.

Suraksha holds a post-graduate diploma in journalism from the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai.
At The Ken, she will help our subscribers formulate a deeper and keener understanding of India’s formidable but complex healthcare sector. It’s one where we’ve straddled the entire spectrum ranging from policy, pharma, diagnostics and healthcare technology. Suraksha helps us double down on a thriving and “recession-proof” sector that impacts everyone. It’s also one where technology giants like Google, Amazon and Apple are betting big on.
In Mumbai, Rozelle joins us from Fortune magazine, where she was a Principal Correspondent covering retail and FMCG. In her seven years of experience, she has written for publications including Hindustan Times, Mint, and Businessworld. Rozelle also spent some time working in the PR industry (like me), which is where she says she discovered that her true calling was in journalism (ditto again). So she promptly took a sharp U-turn to get back to reporting and journalism.

At The Ken, Rozelle will track leading retail and internet companies from Mumbai. She will help our subscribers get a sharper understanding of how e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart will find themselves in battle with the likes of Reliance Retail and the Future Group. Or how the omnichannel wave will wash over Indian retail.
I’m excited to have two passionate and focused writers join our team. Our subscribers can and should expect even more from us in the days to come.
Like all our writers and staff, both Suraksha and Rozelle can be reached via email at [email protected]
