Over the last year, The Ken has given you 200-plus stories. These are deeply researched, sometimes investigative but thought-provoking, 2,000-word stories (give or take 1,000). This has been our bread and butter, but sometimes we like to add a dollop of jam as well. We call this jam By The Numbers.

In this section, we analyse the financials of companies in 600 words. It doesn’t take too much time to read, and it will tell you exactly what you need to know about a company. Plus, it is free to read.

Last year, we wrote about 30 companies over four months. Personally, it was great fun. And we are back for Season 2. We have split these companies broadly into four heads: foreign tech companies in India, unicorns, half unicorns, and companies you need to watch out for. The eagle-eyed among you will notice that a few new companies have made an entry into our By The Numbers list. I hope you enjoy these stories like you do our regular ones.

Let’s start with story one. Last year we started with 1mg and Zoomcar; this year it is YourStoryIt is one of our favourite media companies, and it has raised money from Kalaari Capital, Qualcomm Ventures and Ratan Tata, among others. It is a good one.

The Ken will bring you more as the companies release their data and post them on Facebook and Twitter. If you are on neither social network, bookmark this page and keep coming back to find bite-sized analyses just for you.
