Good morning [%first_name |Dear Reader%],
I’m sure you electric vehicle (EV) buffs have already had a lot to talk about this week. But for the rest of you who aren’t as clued in, two Indian automobile companies—Ola Electric and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M)—unveiled some audacious EV goals and designs this Monday.
In characteristic style, Ola had some larger-than-life (and harder to believe) numbers plastered all over its teaser—a million electric cars by 2026; the “sportiest and fastest car ever built in India”. There was a less-than-fleeting glimpse of the concept car—Ola’s first—that’s meant to hit the road in 2024. But the founder spoke a lot.
Minimal visual, maximal verbal.
Which only reminded me of an old advertising adage—visuals attract, verbals engage.
M&M has been following this maxim for a few months now; I’ve written about it earlier (Mahindra’s EV is Born Electric. Okay, but Born Emotional?). But on Monday, we got a good look at the new designs it has come up with.
