Good morning [%first_name |Dear Reader%],
It’s Shruti again! Old Green Margins hands will probably know who I am by now, but if you haven’t come across my bylines earlier, let me introduce myself. I write on cleantech for The Ken, and occasionally for Green Margins. You can check out a couple of my earlier pieces here and here.
If you follow the cleantech space, there’s a high chance you’ve come across this particular term—energy storage. Come to think of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if you stumble across it everyday.
Both in India and globally, being able to store all the renewable energy being produced is crucial to achieving (or even getting anywhere close to) net-zero goals. And India’s goals, not to put too fine a point on it, are ambitious.
Why energy storage is so crucial is also pretty easy to understand—renewable power cannot be reliably produced throughout the day, or in all locations.
