One thing’s clear. Filipinos, Thais and Indonesians have a fixation with mobile apps like no one else in the world. In 2019, people in Southeast Asia spent more than four-and-a-half hours a day on average on apps, according to a report by marketing agency We Are Social. That’s almost an hour over the rest of the world. Sounds like a lot of texting.

The global average is about three hours, 40 minutes a day. In comparison, an average Chinese person spends four hours on their phones screens and Indians get about 3.5 hours screen time a day—just under the average.
