In October 2017, Southeast Asia witnessed a rare feat when one of its technology companies, Singapore-based Sea Ltd, went public on the New York Stock Exchange. The initial public offering raised over $884 million for the gaming and e-commerce company.

Sea had brought in Nick Nash, former head of Southeast Asia at private equity firm General Atlantic, as its group president in December 2014 specifically to take it public. General Atlantic was an investor in Sea.

Just four months after the IPO, Nash announced plans to leave Sea to return to the world of investment. His new mission: to help Southeast Asia’s aspiring tech giants follow in Sea’s footprints.
